Honda To Expand Dealership Network
Honda may be struggling with staggering sales but that’s not holding them back from opening more dealerships. According to a statement, Honda Siel plans to open a new dealership every month till March 2012, a total increase of 28%.
Honda is currently doing with 117 dealerships in 71 cities and will step it up to 150 across a total of 90 cities in India. This may be a smart move by Honda as a stronger dealership network will surely work out when Honda launches its low price car next year, a formula which has been working for Maruti Suzuki for more than a decade.
Honda’s mass production car is expected to cost less than 5 lakh and will on road by mid 2011. The Honda City is the only Honda product still doing decent numbers with the Jazz and Civic struggling to sell.

Nissan Micra launched in China as Dongfeng-Nissan March
By Mahir Majid
After making its debut in the Indian market not too long ago the new Nissan Micra has made a noticeable entrance in the Chinese market as the Nissan March which is what it is called in most of the south-east Asian countries.
In China, March is made in collaboration with the local Chinese manufacturer Dongfeng with whom Nissan will launch the entire lineup for the Chinese market which include the Nissan Tiida range and the Nissan Quest (MPV) among which March is the cheapest.
Unlike the Indian market however the Nissan March will be offered with a more powerful 1.5 liter petrol engine which has done duty in the previous generation model. The March will be offered in a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed automatic as well.

Honda to produce “TIF” small car in China; is it related to New Small Concept?
Gasgoo is reporting that Honda will introduce a new small car codenamed TIF in the Chinese market, Honda China president Seiji Kuraishi has revealed to the local media recently.
The TIF will get a 1.0 and 1.3-liter petrol engine and will be positioned in line with many of the small cars available today at attractive prices in the Chinese market (read – Chevy Sail, Nissan Micra,
The Honda TIF will cost about 4.12-5.48 lakh rupees, according to Gasgoo, which is a great alternative to the likes of the Micra.
According to sources, the TIF will have “most stylish looks, eye-catchy features and extremely user-friendly controls.”
Now the question is – Is the TIF got anything to do with the Honda New Small Concept that was showcased at the Auto Expo? The car’s codename is 2CV and it, according to sources, will be launched in India next year. The NSC could have a sedan variant and there has been no talk about a diesel engine under the 2CV’s bonnet.
Could these two cars be the same? The 1.3-liter petrol engine will not make it eligible for small car benefits in India, so Honda might only launch the 1.0-liter, if at all the TIF is the 2CV.

Nissan updates Murano; Indian debut likely next year?
There are many question marks hanging over the Nissan Murano. It was said once that this stylish crossover will be imported and sold in India. Over the last six months, that decision has changed. Nissan is likely to have changed its mind, opting for the more aggressive CKD route to lower its price and gain volumes.
The Murano received a diesel engine in Britain, and this same engine could debut on the model coming to India next year. There’s no confirmation from the company, but we suspect it will bought to India next year. Nissan could also look at the Qashqai and Juke, its other crossovers, as viable options.
Coming back to the 2011 Murano, this stylish crossover is in its second generation now and has been on sale since 2002. The name Murano comes from a region of Venice, Italy which is known for the hand blown glass produced there.
Nissan has now given this crossover new front and rear fascias, including new head lamps and tail lamps, 18-inch wheels and various interior additions. A new exterior color, Graphite Blue has been added.
Nissan’s interior upgrades include a new white meter color and new center stack colors. iPod connectivity is now standard across the models.

Hyundai Verna RB to be budget sedan taking on VW Vento?
Hyundai is planning to introduce a brand-new entry-level sedan in Russia and emerging markets. The car in question is the Verna RB, which according to internet sources, is a sedan based on the i20′s platform.
We earlier reported that the Verna RB will be 12-13 lakh rupees, but that isn’t true after the emergence of this recent report unless Hyundai is looking at the CBU or CKD option. If the compact RB is based on the i20′s platform, we find no reason why they must import it.
It will also feature a specially tuned suspension set-up adapted to Indian road conditions. The Verna RB should be sold under a different name and will lock horns with the Honda City, VW Vento, Ford Fiesta and the likes.
This is the exact same segment which the Verna is currently participating in. With fresh competition arriving in the form of the Euro Fiesta sedan and Nissan Micra-based sedan, Hyundai must position the RB sedan below the Verna considering it will have a 1.4-liter engine producing 109 hp.
